Flight from Nature proposes that a great deal of painting and sculpture today is concerned with the imitation of life. It aims to represent a man, a tree or a flower. By way of contrast, the artists represented in this exhibition exploit a purity of means, be that through line, color, or form, to create a complete, innocent, and at times savage, expression in the world. Flight from Nature features two paintings by Bill Scott, Low Tide (2009) and From My Window: Spring (2007).
