Gallery artist Bill Scott will be having a solo presentation titled Where I Long to Be at Franklin G. Burroughs-Simeon B. Chapin Art Museum in 2022. Where I Long to Be is a retrospective exhibition including paintings, works on paper and etchings from 1980 through 2021. Each work is accompanied by a brief autobiographical statement by Scott that speaks to the essence of the artist’s motivation, inspiration for or interpretation of the work.

Important influences for Scott were painters Jane Piper (American, 1916 – 1991) and Joan Mitchell (American, 1925 – 1992), both of whom he spent time working with as a young artist. His work has been exhibited widely at museums including the Eleanor D. Wilson Museum at Hollins University (Roanoke, VA), List Gallery at Swarthmore College (Swarthmore, PA) and the University of Delaware (Newark, DE). Scott’s work can be found in the collections of the Cleveland Museum of Art (Cleveland, OH), Delaware Art Museum (Wilmington, DE), the Philadelphia Museum of Art (Philadelphia, PA), the Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute Museum of Art (Utica, NY) and Woodmere Art Museum (Philadelphia, PA). Scott is represented by Hollis Taggart, New York.
