Gallery artist John Knuth will show new work in The Reds at The Carnegie. The Reds is a solo project by the LA-based artist of densely layered monochrome paintings and objects. Knuth has developed numerous bodies of work that push the edges of painting. He frequently questions the physicality and authorship of painting by introducing unusual materials and inserting intermediaries between the artist and the finished object. This particular series of works, The Reds, explores the borders between abstraction and representation via objects that present as monochrome paintings but reveal deeper texture and context as they are inspected. The exhibition is curated by Matt Distel.
